Gil Romero

 

Gilbert E. Romero is a Principal/Attorney with Capitol Success Group, a government affairs and lobbying firm he started in 1999. Since that time he has represented a diverse cross-section of clients, both for-profit and non-profit.

 

Gil Romero served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1984 – 1998, eight of those years he served on the powerful Joint Budget Committee. While in the House, Gil served on the Capital Development, Local Government, and Judiciary Committees. He was appointed to serve on the Space Advisory Council, the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Committee to the National Council of State Legislators. 

 

 

 

He was a Gates Fellow attending the Senior Executive in State and Local Government, Harvard University-John F. Kennedy School of Government. The pinnacle of his public sector career came in 1998, when he ran for the United States Senate, receiving top-line designation at the Democratic State Assembly.

 

Mr. Romero worked as a Chief Deputy District Attorney as well as a State Public Defender. Gil was a Major in the JAG Corp. of the Colorado Army National Guard. He has been licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado, Licensed to practice in Federal Court, Court of Military Appeals, and the United States Army Court of Military Review. While serving in the legislature, Gil worked as Director of External Affairs for Pueblo Community College as well as an adjunct faculty member at CSU-Pueblo (known at the time as the University of Southern Colorado).

 

Gil earned a Master’s degree in public administration, from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Colorado Law School, and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, also from the University of Colorado. He is a graduate of the Judge Advocate General School of the Army National Guard.
